Fans of Madhuri Dixit are enthralled to see her back in action, as a judge on a television dance reality show. However, the actress with a million-dollar smile confesses to being sceptical about her comeback on the small screen.
“I have hosted a show on television called Kahin Na Kahin Koi Hai. But I had never judged a reality show before this. So I had my set of apprehensions,” she offers. The reality show, which features dancers from varying backgrounds, has been a great experience, says Madhuri. “Despite not being professional dancers, the contestants have displayed great efficiency and my co-judges are great. I am having a blast,” she adds enthusiastically.
The actress, who is regarded as one of the best dancers that Indian cinema has seen, feels that dance forms in India, both traditional and contemporary have evolved. “Various classical dance forms depict our culture and Indian classical dance form has definitely carved a niche for itself at the global level,” she says.
But will the dhak dhak girl also be seen on the big screen? According to sources, Madhuri was offered to play the role of a mother to actor and Bollywood hottie Sonam Kapoor in the Hindi remake of Freaky Friday. The film was slated to be made by her long-time co-star Anil Kapoor’s home production. While Twitter saw a flurry of activity when this was reported, Madhuri’s fans urged her to not portray such role plays. “My choice of scripts will always be based on what appeals to me,” says Madhuri quite simply. The film industry is catering to different genres of movies now, Madhuri observes, adding that this lays down the path to experimenting with her acting skills. “It would be great to know what’s out there for me,” she says.
