Premiere of Sanjay Dutt's nephew’s debut film cancelled after Dutt decides to fly off to Bangkok

Bollywood has been witness to several familial ties gone sour. While on one hand actor Aamir Khan has gone to great lengths promoting his nephew Imran, actor Sanjay Dutt apparently seems to have chosen to keep out of nephew Nilesh Sahay’s business. Sources say that a few family members are upset with Sanjay for not promoting Nilesh, who’s slated to make his debut.

According to sources, several promotional events and a grand premiere were planned with Sanjay and Nilesh together, but his uncle couldn’t make time for even one of them. Nilesh is the son of yesteryear’s star Zahida Hussain (the heroine of hit films like Prem Pujari and Gambler) and his aunt was Nargis Dutt.

“We had planned a special premiere for the movie where the invites were supposed to have Sanjay Dutt’s name as the host. Also, there was a special screening planned for the entire Dutt family, which now stands cancelled,” informs a source.

In anticipation of Sanjay’s contribution, producer Ganesh Acharya had also given a special mention to the actor in the credit rolls of his film, but unfortunately that cannot be changed now, as the prints are out. “Ganesh, Nilesh and Sanjay had meetings where he had promised to do ‘whatever he can’ to promote his bhanja,” the source adds.

Nilesh Sahay, who’s not in town at present, admits that both the events (the party and the special family screening) have been cancelled. “There is nothing in my contract that mentions that my mama will have to promote me. I don’t think I was taken in the film because I was Sanjay Dutt’s nephew. I don’t understand why it is upsetting people if he (Sanjay) couldn’t find the time to promote me. He is still like my godfather, but I want to make it to Bollywood due to my own calibre,” says Nilesh adding that there could be other reasons for Sanjay not making it for his promotional events.

Sanjay Dutt couldn’t get back immediately as he was away in Bangkok for a shoot. “He genuinely didn’t have the time. Also, nobody properly told him that he had to host the party. You cannot take these things for granted because he is really a busy actor. If he had to host the party or attend promotional interviews, then it would have messed around with his own commitments. He is still committed to his nephew and has always wished him well,” says a close friend of Sanjay Dutt, after checking with him.
