Jackman, SRK groove to Dhak Dhak

The Wolverine seems to have set his sights on Bollywood and dropped more than broad hints about his intentions to Karan Johar, who is seen to be instrumental in getting Hugh Jackman to India.

"Indian cinema keeps getting bigger every year. Bollywood is very popular in Australia too they all know about it there. I'm looking forward to working here and I've even begun meeting directors. Karan, are you listening?" said Jackman at the concluding session of FICCI Frames on Friday.

And almost to prove that he's up to the song and dance routine required, when Shah Rukh asked him to match his steps to a desi Bollywood number, Jackman jumped up from his seat to accept the challenge.

He even got rid of his jacket to put his best foot forward in front of the cheering audience.

The number was Madhuri Dixit's 'Dhak Dhak' and everyone was in splits as they shook their booty in unison and twirled around on stage, Jackman managing to even match the lyrics word for word with Shah Rukh.

The Australian hunk even gave his dance partner something to think about when he went on to say that he had loved My Name Is Khan so much that he would even consider working in a sequel to it. "We'll call it My Name Is Jackman and I'm not a tourist."

The fact is that though he achieved international stardom for portraying the violent, steel-clawed character of Wolverine in the X-Men series, Hugh Jackman earned his first stripes in the performing world by singing and dancing in stage musicals.

It's a passion that continues to run parallel to his film career and took him from Melbourne to Broadway. In fact, now that shooting for Wolverine has been delayed, he's all set to stage a new show in San Francisco this May, where he will perform his favourite Broadway numbers.

While both Hugh and his wife have kept mostly to themselves since they arrived in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon, they are making the most of their first time in India. "Me and my wife have been longing to visit India and we're thrilled that we finally are here.

The colours, the history, the spirituality - all the things that make India what it is - are an inspiration to both of us."

To his credit, when Aishwarya presented him with a memento, Jackman immediately recognized its significance. "Thank you Ash, for the Ganesh," he said.

While there were reports that they took in the sight in South Mumbai on Thursday night, before retiring early to their room in Four Seasons hotel, they are expected to catch more of the colours and history of India during their two-day trip to Jaipur.
