Shilpa Shetty pays a visit to ancestral home

MANGALORE: Two years after it was redecorated, Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty finally paid a visit to her 'moola mane' (ancestral house) at Mudaladi near the famous Durga Parameshwari Temple at Kateel.

Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra made a flying visit to the city to see the house, which had got a facelift in November 2009, when the couple got married. Despite expectations that Shilpa would visit her ancestral home last year, this was her first trip here after the house got its new look.

Speaking to the media here, Shilpa said their busy schedule had prevented them from visiting Mudaladi earlier. She said her faith and affinity to her roots drew her back here. The couple visited the Druga Parameshwari Temple and the Jarandaya Temple, accompanied by Shilpa's mother Sunanda Shetty. Later they performed a naga pooja near Mudaladi.

In perfect Tulu, Shilpa said her mother had wanted her to visit the house after her wedding, but she had been unable to. She said her husband was also a religious person and added, in a lighter vein, "He comes along with me wherever I go!"

They had a meal prepared by Sunanda's aunt Kamala, consisting of kori rotti, seer fish fry, idli, rice and payasam.

The couple was in the city only for a few hours and left for Mumbai at 2.30pm
