SRK and the IPL controvery

Even the biggest Bollywood star, Shah Rukh Khan, cannot escape health scares. At the recent music launch of Red Chillies’ production, Always Kabhi Kabhi, a harried and drawn-looking Shah Rukh limped his way to the dais.

Asked about his leg he said, “I have hurt myself a little. My knee’s meniscus is torn. I wish I could say that I was trying to jump for Ra.One or Don 2 and got hurt. But nothing of that sort. My leg got caught in mud and I turned and sprained it. It will take seven to eight days to be alright.”

Always in the limelight, Shah Rukh’s recent IPL party has also become a talking point. Reportedly, Shah Rukh didn’t invite ex-KKR captain, Sourav Ganguly (now with the Pune Warriors) for the party. But SRK clears the air, “The party was for Kolkata Knight Riders. I read it in the papers; it was misconstrued. We had only invited our cricket team and some friends to the house. This is the first occasion where I had KKR in Mumbai for three days; we are the only franchise which works out of the city. When everyone is staying in Mumbai, you can invite people. As a matter of fact, I have also gone to the Mumbai Indians party once and I felt (bad) that I don’t have a home in Kolkata and I can’t call players to my house here. This time the team came two days early for the match that was played on May 19 and my wife and I felt that this is a good occasion to call them. So we just called the Kolkata Knight Riders.”

He also assures, “I am sure if I had invited any other cricketers they would also come. My whole team turned up.” Shah Rukh’s franchise came face to face with Sourav Ganguly’s Pune Warriors on the field but SRK brushes aside any deeper readings into his franchise battling against its ex-captain. “As a team we don’t play against one person. Even when we have team meetings, we don’t plan against only one person.”
