Tania Zaetta forced to shut down charity

Australian television host and former Bollywood star Tania Zaetta was forced to shut down her children''s charity following an investigation into unlawful fund-raising.

The charity, Peace for the Children (PFTC), which lists Zaetta as its sole director, faces fines from 6000 dollars for fundraising in Queensland without a licence, reports the Daily Telegraph.
PFTC''s lawyer Clinton Smith said its assets - 11,273 dollars in cash - would be transferred to a new company that would re-apply for the relevant licences.

"All operations have been suspended until the OFT investigation is complete," he said.An audit of the charity - which falsely claimed on its website to be a registered overseas aid fund - showed it directed less than a quarter of its income towards charitable projects.

The report, by IPS Audit, shows the 22,000-plus-dollars in donations it netted from two Gold Coast fundraisers barely covered costs including 15,103 dollars to stage events.
It shows donations of 3030 dollars in outgoings.

The Office of Fair Trading launched an investigation in March after it was revealed it was not a registered charity.
