Akshay Kumar: Khiladi of Bollywood turns 42

Mumbai: Khiladi Kumar a.k.a. Akshay Kumar has turned 42 today. Today he is uncrowned King of Bollywood. But Akshay says Big B is the only King of Bollywood.

Akshay, who started his career with an action movie, played almost every type of roles. Starting his career in nineties, Akshay is celebrating his 42nd birthday today.

He made his Bollywood debut with “Saugandh” in 1991. But ‘Khiladi' established him in industry as a star. After success of the movie, he became ‘Khiladi' No. 1 of the industry.

With a series of Khiladi movies, he became action King. Moreover, he tied nuptial knot with Twinkal Khanna.

To break image of action hero, in 1997, with Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, Dil To Pagal Hai and Aflatoon, he attempted new genres. Thereafter, Akshay became quintessential comedy King. His performance was praised by critics and audience alike.

Dhadkan (2000), Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Garam Masala (2005), Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and Jaan-E-Mann (2006) were also praised by critics and audience.

Graph of his success recorded a meteoric rise in 2007, when Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome- all four movies- starring him were blockbuster. Singh Is Kinng was also a great success.

Though Chandni Chowk to China and Eight by Ten were critical and commercial failures to box office, his latest Kambakkht Ishq has done well despite severe criticism.
