More Bollywood stars keen to join IPL ranks

Salman
The rivalry between Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan may soon be extended to the cricket field.

Salman has expressed an interest in buying one of the two new teams in the next round of auctions for the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Shah Rukh, ever the gentleman, welcomed the move even though the two stars do not get along.

Shah Rukh, the highest-profile Bollywood star in the IPL, together with Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta, all but disappeared from the scene during the recent IPL series in South Africa when his team, the Kolkota Knight Riders was heading for defeat

He said he was taking a brief break to cast his vote back home and return but never did as his squad ended up at the bottom of the log. The team has been facing a lot of problems and do not even have a coach at present.

Shah Rukh has been hold interviews for the post at his home.

Another Bollywood star who also wants his share of the Indian Premier League pie is Sanjay Dutt but he's not sure whether he would be allowed to bid for team ownership because of his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Two new teams in Ahmedabad and Nagpur will be auctioned in December 2009 and Dutt has expressed an interest in bidding for one of them. The actor-politician, who was convicted under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, had a fruitful meeting with IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi.

Dutt's concern was whether he would be able to buy the team because of his court cases but he was assured there would be no problem, although he would not be permitted to do endorsements.

When Sanjay met Modi, who is also vice president of Board of Control for Cricket in India he wasn't aware the media would be informed and waiting for him at the hotel in Mumbai.
