Anupam Kher to debut in Marathi film

Mumbai, Nov 16 (PTI) Veteran actor Anupam Kher is all set to make his debut in Marathi cinema with a role in the bilingual film "Kashala Udyachi Baat".

Both the Marathi as well as Hindi version, named "Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein", will be shot simulateneously in Pune.

Talking to reporters at the ''mahurat'' in Pune, Kher said he was open to work in regional movies.

"I have worked in Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil and Punjabi movies but, so far had not got offers in Marathi."
He said he liked the theme and concept of "Kashala Udyachi Baat" and agreed immediately to be part of the project.

"Marathi cinema is now technologically advanced and professionally handling different kinds of innovative subjects," he said.

Kher said even though he understands Marathi well, he will have to learn the nuances of the language while delivering dialogues.

"I am confident that I will do it well," he quipped.

Both versions will have the same star cast and director Pramod Joshi who has earlier directed movies like "Rajkaaran", "Tuzhya Mazhyat" and the upcoming "Aarohi".

Apart from Kher, the film stars Sachin Khedekar, Mrinal Kulkarni and Atul Parchure.

Joshi said this was his first attempt at directing a Hindi movie.

"The film dwells on the people''s lifestyle in the 21st century where nobody has the time to think about tomorrow. In race for excellence, people have no time for their loved ones, family and friends. My film will inspire the audience to look back at their lives from a different perspective," Joshi said.
